                      Deerfield Township Clerk, Nancy Laier died, Monday, July 5, 2010 at Genesys Health Park.

Nancy was born May 1, 1943 in Mt. Clemens, the daughter of Lyle and Helen (Schmidt) Lester. She married Charles William
Laier at St. Augustine Catholic Church. She had resided in Deerfield Township for the past 45 years. Nancy was a 1961
graduate of Durand High School. She had worked for General Motors for 2 years before she left to raise her family of 5
children. She was the Deerfield Township Clerk and on the Hartland School board for many years. She also was a member
of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Surviving are: husband Charles William "Bill" Laier; 5 children, Charles, Jr. and wife
Bridgett Laier of Lansing, Dale and wife Rovertta Laier of Howell, Robert and wife Michele Laier of Howell, Joseph and wife
Jill Laier of Howell and Monica and husband Mark Samples of Linden; 14 grandchildren; mother, Helen Lester of Lennon; 2
sisters, Linda and husband Walt Widder of Durand and Susan and husband Michael Bentley of Lennon; several nieces,
nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Lyle Lester. Online tributes may be posted at the

At a Special Meeting held on July 13, 2010 the Deerfield Township Board, after accepting his resignation as
Trustee, appointed Alfred Mattioli as the Deerfield Township Clerk. The Board also accepted Garry
Johnston's resignation as Chairman of the Planning Commission and appointed him as Trustee to fill the
position left vacant by Alfred Mattioli. The Board also appointed Joseph Laier to the Planning Commission
's
position left vacant by Garry Johnston's resignation.

The Board sends out a warm welcome to Alfred, Garry, and Joseph in their new positions.
